writer, designer,
all-around idea maven
I'm a freelance writer and designer based in Columbia, Missouri.
I think I've had creativity running through my veins since before I could walk. I remember how I used to nerd out on our Macintosh Classic, using the basic paint program to draw comprehensive floor plans for my dream home when I was eight years old. Surely I'd become an architect... I entertained the notion of interior design but was afraid the market was oversaturated (thanks, Trading Spaces).
Then I took my first journalism class in high school and realized how
much I loved obsessing over the layout details, editing and writing. Finally - somewhere I could put my perfectionism to good use. Fast forward a couple of years to the University of Missouri's Journalism School where I dabbled in the magazine department but left with a focus on advertising. Essentially, I thrive on the whole creative process - from idea to execution and everything in between.
I try to find enjoyment in simple things. As much as I love what I do, I find delight in shutting my laptop and experiencing life face-to-face.
Having grown up under the tutilage of an excellent baker (a.k.a. my mom), I've done my best to keep the art of baking from scratch alive. Eventually I plan to open a bakery to share my baked goods with the masses. I've already begun perfecting my recipe arsenal - perhaps you might like to try my signature raspberry chocolate chip cookies or my whole wheat gingersnaps?
I also enjoy cooking, spending time with my partner William and our "dog-ter," gardening, thrift shopping, minimizing my carbon footprint and fighting disease with Dr. Mario on the Wii, among other things.
