FRANK
@ the Missouri Theatre Center for the Arts

young professional organization development

FRANK isn't an acronym but rather a mantra of sorts, as in "no pretense - just be FRANK and enjoy the arts".

In the summer of 2008, I was asked to develop a program that would increase young professionals' presence at the Missouri Theatre Center for the Arts. FRANK was the result.

The official FRANK launch party on September 25, 2008 invited local young professionals to the Missouri Theatre for the opportunity to get FRANK. Utilizing guerrilla and viral marketing exclusively, the party's purposely-vague invitation drew approximately 250 guests. Upon arrival, guests used a backstage entrance that took them to the stage where a countdown was underway. Once the clock struck 8:15 pm, I introduced everyone to FRANK and led everyone through the theater to the official premiere of the theater's new rooftop patio. Guests enjoyed a free open bar (sponsored by Bleu Restaurant & Wine Bar) and a special appearance from local deejay Taylor Bacon. Guests were also encouraged to become members for a $25 annual fee that included discounts at the theater and from businesses throughout Columbia's downtown.

Since the launch party, FRANK members and guests have enjoyed monthly happy hours, pre-sale opportunities and more.

These logos were placed in the windows of participating downtown businesses to remind members they could use their membership card for a discount. Participating businesses were also equipped with FRANK "business cards" for anyone wanting more information.

FRANK members received birthday cards with special birthday discounts from participating local businesses.

I was 100% responsible for the development and promotion of FRANK. I developed monthly happy hours and special events to keep the organization relevant for members and potential members. I negotiated the launch party sponsorship and all of the original membership perks. Later on, additional perks and discounts were negotiated with help from FRANK's intern Maggie Lannon. I arranged and facilitated all correspondence with FRANK members and created all FRANK designs including logos, coupons, invitations and more.
