all-around idea maven
(Columbia, Missouri; March 16, 2010) On Tuesday, April 6 at 7:00 p.m., the Mozart-Higday Music Trust presents acclaimed violinist Midori and pianist Robert McDonald at the Missouri Theatre Center for the Arts for one night only. This superstar violinist began her career at age 11 with the New York Philharmonic and continues to blow audiences away with her virtuosic playing. Joined by award-winning pianist Robert McDonald, the duo will perform a variety of works including pieces by Hindemith, Brahms, Bach, Falla and Ravel.
For Midori, music is about more than being one of the world’s great violinists. Born in Japan in 1971 and labeled a child prodigy shortly thereafter, Midori is passionate about sharing her music with as many people as she can. As an artist who strives to take music beyond the stage and make it truly accessible to all, Midori’s firm belief in the value of community work has led her to found a number of personal outreach initiatives including the enterprising Midori & Friends. This devotion to outreach and education makes her the perfect fit for the Mozart-Higday Music Trust performance series.
